A message from PM Bill
Easter is a great time to spend with family and friends.
I am fortunate enough to be able to spend some time with Chloe and our family.
Not everyone will be as lucky.
Unfortunately for hundreds of thousands of Australians working this Easter, they will receive less pay than they deserve due to penalty rate cuts.
Those workers in food, hospitality, retail and pharmacy are losing as much as $370 out of their pay packet this Easter.
This is simply unfair, yet Scott Morrison voted in support of penalty rate cuts eight times.

Penalty rates, shops that open all hours, pubs that open til dawn all create a false economy.
When we consider the cost of opening up and paying penalty rates to create more business, I often wonder
how much profit is actually made by businesses after they pay all their overheads...
Im bloody sure if I was in business, I would be opening 9-5 only and if I was closed then the public can go elsewhere
and pay maybe higher prices...
Penalty rates should only apply to essential and emergency services...nurses/police etc...
Penalty rates are one of the reasons that kill businesses off...apart from incompetent business managers....
Its common knowledge that a huge percentage of businesses close down in the first twelve months...
Its just too expensive to run a business..hence why the economy is dying...look at all the shops closing down....
Why....penalty rates......(and money hungry landlords...)
Then if we abolished compulsory superannuation (the increase has been pushed back to 2025...that tells us
everything....) we might be able to stimulate the economy....but what would I know....
However...I digress......

Well said , billy. Penalty rates should go. Unskilled workers getting 40 bucks an hour just because it’s a Sunday is outrageous. Businesses can’t afford it, especially when they are having to compete against online shopping.

Youre on the money there with on line shopping...the retail apocalypse is almost upon us and crap like penalty ratesMistress Nicole wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 2:46 pmWell said , billy. may have been a bonus in another time..but now...well, its different...
The same can be said for one of my pet hates...the compulsory superannuation levy introduced by Keating...
Its all very well to say that the government cant afford the social security it pays out..I agree with that...
What I dont agree with is the need for employers to provide for their employees retirement..its not their
responsibility...its the responsibility of each and every worker to provide for their own retirement....
If they are not doing that then run more retirement seminars to educate everyone...
If they can educate everyone on TV not to drink and drive etc..then they can educate people to start
providing for their own retirement...its not fkn hard.....
And they can also start means testing the political pensions when the scum retire....like the rest of us.......
I suppose this is the problem you have when your politicians are incompetent.....

Mmmm, I'm not aware of any online Coffee shops, "Nicole". Do you know any? Penalty rates apply to retail workers - those that interact primarily with the public directory - coffee shop workers, restaurant waiting staff, etc. Not much internet competition for those workers...Mistress Nicole wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 2:46 pmWell said , billy. So what if we started our own political party?
We could call it the "Populist Party".
Note that all pollies bitching about populists are full of shit, because politics itself is a game of populism.
And populist candidates attract popularity because their policy objectives are based on common sense.
Now as founding El Presidente of our populist party I advocate our policies as thus;
> abolish income tax for anyone earning under $50K a year.
> abolish tax return submission for everyone earning less that $50K a year.
> abolish compulsory superannuation.
> abolish immigration.
If you have a policy objective you think worth mentioning, by all means suggest it.
Just keep it short and simple (even simplistic if you like).
As for Julia Gillard, we all knew she got renovations on her house paid for by union funds and slush money from the account she set up for Wilson. And no doubt Shorten and Co paid someone influential to bury the scandal.
