I watched Q&A the other night and there was a lengthy discussion about Gaza.

There was one stupid bint named Randa Abdel-Fattah who blew up about the deaths but refused to zoom out and talk about why there is a blockade, and would not even say the word Hamas.

Peter Singer was also on the panel. I was expecting another one sided lefty rant, but he actually perfectly reflected my views.

He said sure there needs to be an investigation of why so many people were shot by snipers, but there equally needs to be an investigation why Hamas called so many people to protest and said it was disgusting that children be taken to such a protest.

Very sensible and balanced comment by him.

Someone should read David vs Goliath to Albanese then ask him if he's finally worked out that rocks fired from slings can kill. We have a situation where lunatics seek to poke lions and see what the result will be. Israel is paranoid, that is understandable considering where they are and what goes on in their surrounding nations.

Hamas are liars and do not care how many so-called Palestinians die in their cause. If they manage to invade Israel, that is a win, if they can make Israel look bad then that is a win... Unfortunately, some extreme RW groups and LW Progressives are anti-semitic and therefore anti-Israel...

Any sensible person that knows what happened to the British Mandate of Palestine knows just how difficult the creation of a 2 state solution will be. Jordan already exists as does Israel... there is your simple 2 state solution. A Jewish Israel and a Muslim Jordan. Palestine and Palestinians do not exist. They never have.

Actually Palestine was a Roman colony over 2000 years ago.
The famous 'Charge of the Light Horse' in WW1 where Ozzies put their rifles on their backs and charged the Turkish machine gunned trenches of Beersheba, and captured Beersheba leading to the fall of the Ottoman Empire was in Palestine, at that time an Ottoman province/colony.
So Palestine has long existed, but never as a nation state.

Now it just so happens my mother's step father, thus my step grandfather's name was Jacobson. Making him a half Ashkenazi Jew - Jewish father, Catholic mother, disowned by both families. Ashkenazi Jews are not ethnically Semitic, they're ethnically Eastern European and speak Yiddish not Hebrew. Shepardic Jews and Arabs are Semitic because they decend from the Semitic tribes of North Africa. More than 60% of Israelis are Ashkenazi migrants who have no ancestral connection with Israel whatsoever.

According to the Jewish historical account they took the land of Canan from the Cananites and it's their because they recognise the Right of Conquest ... except when they lose and have to seek refuge in other lands.

In the early 20th century some Jews bought land in Palestine off the title holders who lived elsewhere.
At the end of WW2 influential Jews who control the Bank of London lobbied for Jewish refugees (predominantly Ashkenazi) to be resettled in the British protectorate of Palestine. The Jews set up Kibbutzes/Communes and turned the desert green.

Arabs began attacking Kibbutzes and killing Jews. The British disallowed the Jews from possessing weapons and insisted the Jews must rely on British protection, which never came on time. Ben Gurion, a blonde Ashkenazi migrant led the Jewish resistance with illicit weapons.
Israel was created officially and won several battles/wars against the Arabs.

During the 1947 and 1967 wars Israel increased its territory beyond the UN agreed borders. In recent decades Israel keeps importing migrants and settling them on the occupied territories. The Arabs are not allowed to posses weapons and the settlers walk around with Uzi SMGs. Israel keeps bull dozing Palestinian orchards to build more settlements and the settlements pump their sewage into the Palestinians' drinking water.

Israel doesn't want peace because that would mean giving up the settlements. Israel intends to keep expanding to the Jordanian border.
This dispute will never be resolved and is never genuinely meant to be. Israel exists to create a reason for WW3.
