Daylight Saving for Qld

Post by Super Nova » Tue Jan 10, 2017 10:18 pm

They should join the rest of the country. maybe they think their curtains will fade faster :thumb

Poll suggests 88 percent support for Queensland daylight saving trial
A poll has revealed resounding support for a fresh daylight saving trial in Queensland.
More than 7000 people have responded to the survey and 88 percent of them said they would back the move, The Courier-Mail reports.
The survey, created a few days ago, is part of a push by Brisbane Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner to garner online support for another daylight saving trial.

Mr Schrinner has claimed the time is ripe for "a fresh go" at daylight saving.

"A daylight saving trial for one or two seasons would give people an idea of how it would work in Queensland conditions," he said.
"They could then decide if it’s something they want to stick with or keep the existing situation."
Queensland last held a referendum on daylight saving 25 years ago, with 54.5 percent of residents voting against the measure.

I'd be happy to do away with it.... it's rubbish and I'm sick of changing all the clocks every year... my Dad has 8 clocks not counting the microwave, and I can never remember how to change the clock in the car.

Bull shit!

Every poll and the referendum on daylight saving in Qld has had overwhelming opposition to the proposal.

People in SE Qld who want daylight saving should move back to Sydney or Melbourne.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Daylight Saving used to really annoy me when I was a working girl. Now that I am retired .... who cares?

I am an early riser anyway .... wake when it is "light" so at the moment that is around 5 am. HOWEVER, I don't need to jump out of bed to get to work ... nor do I have to drive home (after the car has been sitting in the sun ALL day) when it is still 36C.

Fortunately, January is the hottest month in Canberra .... so by February it will be cooling down again. Until it heats up, again in December. Yee Haa.

Employers love DLS because lots of workers stay back at work and do overtime rather than sit even longer in stinking hot traffic jams. As a young bloke it meant an extra hour's surfing time after work but in the summer it doesn't get dark til near 8pm anyway.

Up here it's hot enough at 8:30am to melt wax candles on my table without DLS.
So fucked if I need it being 30C at 1am rather than 30C at midnight.

Whoever wrote that Courier-Mail article is full of shit. Most Qlders are very hostile to the DLS proposal despite ex Sydney and Melbourne residents of the Gold Coast pushing it year after year.
The Qld govt has said the idea is "Dead and buried".

Should the ex Sydney and Melbourne residents of the Gold Coast eventually get their way, it'll cause state wide chaos, because numerous towns and regions will just refuse to participate, leave their clocks as they are and carry on life/business as usual.
