He was caught napping on the first day of the 45th parliament but now independent senator Derryn Hinch could find himself in even deeper water after he posted a selfie of himself in the chamber.

Out to prove he’s raring to go following his nanna nap during Governor-General Peter Cosgrove’s address to officially open parliament yesterday, Senator Hinch informed his more than 61,000 Twitter followers he was the first into the Senate today.

But guidelines on who can take photos in the Senate are extremely strict, with photos by politicians considered a big no-no.

With Hinch it has always been THE HUMAN HEADLINE... the rules are always for somebody else.
