His plan to decriminalise all illicit drugs reeks of juvenile university politics, cloistered from reality by sandstone
and cheap Thursday night drinks.

In the 1960s Professor Timothy Leary campaigned for LSD and psilocybin mushrooms (and probably all illicit substances)
to be legalised. He also promoted crashing the modern world system via the phrase "Tune in, turn on and drop out", and believed the Hell's Angels would be the shock troops of his hippy new world order, til they started robbing the hippies. Eventually reality must have smacked him in face 'coz he gave up on his Utopian anarchy.

Prohibition has never worked. Kids WILL and do take drugs at least if they are regulated the kids have half a chance of surviving. As it is now they are playing Russian roulette every time they drop an ekkie at a party.
It's akin to drinking moonshine and not knowing the alcohol content.

I understand that rationale and accept it is somewhat true, but the general public needs educating on what personality types are drawn to which substances. I've tried/experimented with virtually ever conventional (never had designer drugs - synthetic smack, crack, ecstacy, ice) illicit drug available, sometimes just for the experience, just to see what the hype's about, and in my opinionated belief the vast majority of those attracted to amphetamines are drawn to it because it's anti-social - the desire to be seen by peers as 'Bad ass'. The excuses used, like "it gives me confidence" or "it helps me lose weight" are just cop outs.

The fact busted ice imports keeps increasing in volume and the street price remains stable is said to be proof of popularity. Authorities promote various strategies to disrupt the market, which of course is just throwing good money after bad. I've had so much trouble with speed junkies I tend to think the best way to dry up the market for dealers is to execute the users.
