I don't remember what he did after the double disillusion that led to Whitlam's dismissal.
I do. First he devalued/floated the Ozzy dollar ... giving spawn to the ALP bumber sticker
"Malcolm's not the full dollar".
Then he let a heap of Vietnamese refugees in, but considering we helped trash their country of origin I suppose we had a moral obligation on that count.
Malcolm's most famous quote was "Life was never meant to be easy". Maybe so, but life for Malcolm was never hard. IMO, all the humanitarian pontificating later on was just the facade of someone desiring to be regarded as a statesman.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

I didn't mind the Vietnamese refugees moving in. Mostly they got immediate employment (even though it was cleaning and so forth) which was better than they had at "home". They were happy to be welcomed. America started that particular "conflict" and I think the Vietnamese who came here realised that.
They were polite and tried to assimilate ... unlike some other refugees that have moved here. Most of them now own houses and are NOT living off the public purse. The Vietnamese refugees were hard workers. They learned English and got on with Life as an Aussie. Much like the Greeks, Italians and so forth did, way back.
The other "Asians" are the arrogant ones ... queue-jumpers, they push their way into queues, elbows and all. They will NEVER assimilate.

Ever been to Vietnamatta Nef?
For many years a place not to go to unless you were looking to score drugs.

I don't live in Sydney (haven't done since 1981) and I am only talking about Canberra in the 1980s. I am probably very wrong. I have no relatives or friends in Sydney so have no need to visit there.

I think it probably still is. I was driving somewhere, can't remember where, many years ago and saw a sign to Cabramatta so I thought I would go and have a look-see. It was full of Indians on one side of the street and Vietnamese on the other. It was pretty scary actually so I walked into a Newsagent to buy a lottery ticket and get the hell out of Dodge and just as I got to the counter the person behind the counter started freaking out because he saw some gang members outside who had robbed him a few days before. He was carrying on about guns so I beat a hasty retreat.
Around the same time we had a friend who used to eat there in a certain restaurant every Tuesday night. He had eaten there every week for a couple of years. He always raved about the food then oneday the owner told him not to go there anymore because it would not be safe for him.
My curiosity was satisfied and I won't be going back

I lived in Sydney (first in Darling Point then Woollarah , then St Ives). I never went much further than the City or Chatswood.

Guess I am naive. The Asians you saw appeared to be Tourists and you rarely saw a black person.
Canberra is still, obviously, way behind Sydney. I sat at the Mall a while back for about 30 minutes or so and counted 4 "black people" (Sudanese I think) (including a Mother with a baby in a pram). Mostly white and a few Asians. Maybe one female wearing a scarf (Muslim) and most male shiny bums (Public Servants) are too lazy to shave so lots of beards.

Drugs are everywhere. Before Cabramatta was the herion capital it was Kings Cross, and before that Cronulla.
The gangs at Cabramatta are kids/teens. The outlaw club [what most call a bikie gang]I once belonged to often drank at the Sundowner in Cabramatta, and those teenage smack dealers stayed out of our way.
Like Neferti I've never had any dramas with Vietnamese. Arab muslims on the other hand are scum and should be ruthlessly exterminated.
