Abbott's history is nothing to brag about. Yes he has been a journalist of sorts occasionally for the local rag - whoopee doo, but he didn't make a living out of it. Any average person can write a 300 word essay.

Bob Hawke was a Rhodes Scholar too, but you didn't see him bragging about it. I think Whitlam might have been also.

Regardless of that - a plant manager for a concrete company? How long did he hold that job down for - 3 month's? What did that entail - supervising the movement of concrete trucks?

As far as his voluntary work goes, being a surf lifesaver doesn't automatically qualify him for the job of prime minister. His background is extremely limited and that's no surprise.

Bob Hawke was a Rhodes Scholar too, but you didn't see him bragging about it. I think Whitlam might have been also. You don't see Abbott bragging about it either nor about holding the record for the quickest scull of a yardglass, which we all know Hawke holds with some pride... and no re Whitlam.
