Police not probing Abbott, Brandis

Federal police are not investigating the alleged misuse of MPs entitlements despite numerous complaints from Labor MP Rob Mitchell and the public.

Mr Mitchell wrote to the Australian Federal Police asking them to investigate Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Attorney-General George Brandis over a swag of travel claims made by the pair.

The Victorian MP said Senator Brandis, as shadow attorney-general in the previous parliament, had set a precedent by referring a number of matters relating to MPs directly to the AFP.

'I have asked for an investigation into the use of the travel claims by George Brandis and Tony Abbott,' Mr Mitchell told AAP on Thursday.

The matters included Mr Abbott's claims of entitlements regarding the promotion of his book Battlelines, the attendance at the weddings of Peter Slipper and Sophie Mirabella and at six sporting events.

The AFP later confirmed receiving two letters from Mr Mitchell and a number of complaints from members of the public about the alleged misuse of entitlements by members of parliament.

'The Department of Finance is responsible for the administration of entitlements for members of the Australian Parliament,' the AFP said in a statement.

It said it was not investigating the allegations, but had forwarded them to the finance department.

The Greens will be around for a long time and no doubt become more popular when most people realise that an Abbott government is selling them out by continuing along the same path as his predecessor. If a coalition government is still around in a decade - most of our agricultural land will be owned by the Chinese, Indonesians and Indians - the rest of it will just be a quarry owned and exploited by foreigners and no mining tax means they can do it for nothing. Most of these foreign owners want employees from their own country. They don't want to hire Australians because they'll have to pay our award wages.

Abbott is sneaky and gutless - that is already apparent. Oh - and he's also dumb.

Greens are dead and buried, that is apparent. With grinning skull face at the helm they will fade quietly into obscurity. By July next year, they will have lost their senate position and will inevitably implode. It's already happening and Bobby Bumlicker saw the writing on the wall so he got out before he got the blame.
