But are any of these nations carbon-tax in the same league as Australia’s go-it-alone "super"-Carbon tax?
Thank god the Liberals are back in, common sense at last, and whilst a Carbon-tax of this scale may be suited to nations who don’t rely on mining and coal exports to sustain their economies, here in Australia, a tax of this nature would have all but destroyed our capacity to sustain our own economy, much less the environment.
The UN and EU would have liked to have rendered our nation needy and broke.
They may stick their A21 policies where the sun doesn’t shine.
If they had their way, they would have turned our nation into a reservoir for the worlds most undesirable asylum-seekers/refugees.

hello Mantra,
One has to be particularly careful when reading a political statement, as much journalism now is.
The ideal politician is one able to quickly slip in anther and pretend it the same, a classic is that which you have picked up.
"A number of countries have implemented carbon taxes or energy taxes that are related to carbon content"
Do a search and gather how many have a Carbon tax. You will note the difference between those which have Carbon tax and those which have an energy tax. Note the difference! Also one should be careful with the word Carbon its a beauty, everything relates to Carbon in some way, unless its a molecule without it will have Carbon!

…Mr Dreyfus … said Australia’s emissions trading scheme was world’s best practice.
“Of course we didn’t win the election,” he told Sky News on Thursday.
“But it’s been clear policy and it is the right policy for Australia and I’m going to work to defend it and Labor is going to work to defend the right policy for Australia.
“I’ve got a mandate to defend good policy.
“I was elected to the Australian parliament on the clearest possible platform and that is for an emissions trading scheme.” …
The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia [has] warned that repealing the impost would be a backward step.
“Driving businesses to become more carbon efficient is critical for our future,” it said, releasing what it said should be the coalition government’s priorities in its first 100 days.[My emphasis]
Backwards we go. 1950s the first stop.

Gillard's rant in today's Guardian proves she still doesn't get it.
And that she and the rest of her cronies may never get it.
