They said while disability care, and an NDIS, was vitally important, so too was mental health given it impacted millions each year and more should be done to support sufferers in the longer-term.

Let's just face facts. No government can help pay for all the mentally ill people we now have in our society. Funnily enough - going back a couple of decades - no-one was considered mentally ill, aside from the chronically insane. People were tagged weird, strange, neurotic, eccentric, different, nervy etc. but now 1 in 4 people are considered to have a mental illness and are on anti-depressants which for many of them is an addictive cop out.

No-one used to be considered depressed unless they had lost someone close to them by death or a marriage break up. I think it's an illness created in part by the drug companies.

Not that I can see. There is no proof of an "absolute" commitment. It was a non core musing which is how most leaders conduct their business.

MENTAL health advocates have slammed the government for apparently abandoning its commitment to the sector in favour of a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

I read the article. How about you provide proof that she made a definitive promise in regard to including mental health? It's a state issue. The states are the ones who have to lift their game.
