For those who do not understand.

Any Cabbie who offers his services to the Customers of Airports (yeah....that's you) can spend a great deal of time waiting to get onto the Rank (after sitting in the Holding Rank) and you jump in.........to go a distance having a $10.00 value.

The 'short fare' arrangement allowed that unlucky bugger to return to the Rank at #1 (jumping the queue in the Holding Rank) and take his chance with a second fare. Tough tit where that one goes.

It is a good arrangement and has wide spread support among Cabbies. Why Airport Authorities would want to interfere in what is a Cabbie matter is beyond me.....and probably those Melbourne Cabbies protesting.

You lot do not know how close you are to being left without transport. It is nothing to organise a two hour sausage sizzle for the boys....and in that time, you can whistle Dixie, and there is SFA anyone can do about it.

Its already happening so Im surprised you aren't aware of it- smartphone app with credit card and paypal facilities with a stable of users prepared to earn cash for picking someone up and it works great. Cheaper than a cab and the driver gets the fare straight away and you can check how many drivers are around you and who has responded, then communicate directly with the driver via instant message.
