Looks to me like the US of AiA picture of the TPP is a bit like the film ARGO.... rewritten for US of A consumption.
The 2005 Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPSEP or P4) is a free trade agreement among Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, and Singapore. It aims to further liberalise the economies of the Asia-Pacific region.

Since 2010, negotiations have been taking place for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a proposal for a significantly expanded version of TPSEP. The TPP is a proposed free trade agreement under negotiation by (as of December 2012) Australia, Brunei, Chile, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam. Japan has expressed its desire to become a negotiating partner, but not yet joined negotiations as the TPP became a major issue in Japan's 2012 election. South Korea was asked by the US to consider joining the TPP but declined for the time being.
what was that about Japan again AiA?
oh and mantra... cut the conspiranut stuff eh... just try for once to argue the facts and leave Howard out too eh. If you are against a huge trans-pacific trading block you need to focus on that blockhead Craig Emerson and his ministry staff. Emerson has always been pro-free trade, but clueless on the outcomes and useless at negotiation.

Missed Japanese Prime Minister Abe's speech in the last couple of weeks have you? The one with the dramatic rhetoric?

Japan is one of Australia's biggest trading partners and an important source of capital investment. Perhaps we have a smidgeon of influence with the US and have recommended Japan as an essential factor in the future growth and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region?

Point is Japan isn't a member.

Did you see the question mark after my speculative comment?

It appears NZ is batting for Japan - so there's no reason why we wouldn't be, although it's difficult to understand why any nation would want to become a member of this US controlled conglomerate - particularly Japan, who the US has ripped off financially, emotionally and physically for decades. The US are in deep trouble, so of course they'll eventually accept Japan after stringing them along for a while.
"Look, I'm sure we will find a way to say yes. I don't think that's the issue. The issue is the terms and the timing" and the method of proceeding with Japan in the talks, New Zealand Trade Minister Tim Groser said in an interview after a speech to a U.S. business group.

If you are not aware of the recent speech and the context why do you bother?

I read it dodo...

Are you aware that many Japanese and other political parties in Japan are not in agreement with Abe? Are you aware of the political instability in Japan that has been obvious over the last decade at least?

No big deal either way.

The US of A is a late comer to the TPP. Don't try to paint it otherwise.

You really are annoying aren't you? I am very aware of all aspects of Japan's participation in the TPP talks as well as America's use of TPP as a counterbalance to China.
