The US in the Phillepeans and now Iraq, the latter being the most germaine to the present Afgan problem.Jovial Monk wrote:The Brits successfully fought two insurgencies: the Boer War and the Malay insurrection and the last offers lessons in fighting such a war.

Still, Pakistan has a dynamic all it's own, some of the government of Pakistan, in paticular Intel services are sympathetic to such Islamo Fascists, perhaps give them aid and Intel? And unlike Iraq were the population saw themselves, still do, primarily as a nation, much of East Pakistan is tribal with little or no alligence to the state, so the problems are greater.
The US preditor drone campaigns there have had some major success taking out top leadership, but Pakistan must do more to put boots on the ground in the hottest areas and stomp out safe havans rather than negoitate giving them safe havans.
Still, given the minimal nature of the Pakistani cricket attack one would be foolish to assume such attacks will not continue for decades, they are small and easy to carry out, I almost think if Pakistan could prove they have reformed their security measures for protecting teams that we should resume cricket there as quickly as possible simply to show that such small scale attacks can have little or no effect except the democratic world improving her security measures.
